How to Use NuWave Electric Pressure Cooker?
If you have recently purchased your NuWave electric pressure cooker and now wondering how to use the NutriPot the right way, here are a few simple how to’s you should know.
- Locking the Pressure Cooker’s Lid
The purpose of a pressure cooker is to tightly seal the pot so that the food cooks at a higher temperature. To do that, the lid needs to be tightly fitted onto the pot. Unlike older models of NuWave pressure cookers the NutriPot has an easy locking system.
Simply place your lid on top of the pot and slide the locking mechanism to the left so that the pot and lid handles are aligned and it’s locked into place. Once the lid is locked, it won’t move or loosen while food is cooking. To unlock the lid, simply slide your handle to the right.
You’ll know if the lid is locked by looking at the digital display on your pressure cooker. There will be a red light underneath Sure Lock. If the red light is off it means the lid is not locked.
- Buttons for Various Dishes
On the front of your NuWave pressure cooker you’ll see a line of buttons for various foods such as:
- Rice
- Multi-grain

- Cleaning Your NuWave Electric Pressure Cooker
Lucky for you, the NutriPot is nonstick coated, making it super easy to clean. To ensure the coating lasts longer, use plastic or wooden spatulas so you don’t scratch the surface on the inside of the pot. Follow these easy steps to properly clean your NuWave pressure cooker:
- Unplug the pressure cooker before you start cleaning it.
- Wipe the base of the pressure cooker and the inside of the base with a clean damp cloth. Don’t immerse the base in water or spray water in it because it can damage electrical components.
- Now you can remove the water collection box to clean it. Clean it with a wet cloth and then insert it back into place.
- Detach the lid from the base of the pot and wash in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and leave it to dry.
- Use a soapy sponge to clean the inner pot and then wipe it clean with a cloth. Don’t use any abrasive cleaning tools because it can damage the non-stick surface of the pot.
If you’re not sure how to detach components of your pressure cooker to clean it, you should refer to your user manual. The manual will explain how to remove and reattach components without damaging your pressure cooker.
- Some Important Features for User Guidance
The NutriPot features a heat-proofing lid; covered in plastic from all sides and has no exposed metallic area. The handles are also removable so you can store your device anywhere and manage your space accordingly.
The lid is secured on the pot with a hinge to make it easier to open and close the lid safely. What’s more, the lid is cool-to-the-touch even when cooking so you don’t burn your hands. The pressure cooker is ideal for cooking on high pressure.
The NuWave doesn’t allow low-pressure cooking. You can adjust all present cooking time, which makes it efficient to try out new recipes If the texture button confuses you, don’t worry. This button allows you to change the preset cooking time to Normal, Less, or More.
Lastly, the user manual for the NuWave pressure cooker states that foods such as seafood and meat shouldn’t be pressure canned inside the pot. You can set a pressure of 70kPA or 10PSI when cooking meals in your pot.
- Familiarize Yourself with Error Codes
Since the NuWave pressure cooker is a digital appliance, you may experience some error codes while operating the pot. You can find details of error codes on page 29 of your user manual. On the other hand, you may come across the E9 error code on the pressure cooker.
This error code is warning you that there may be burned food at the bottom of the pot. If you see the E9 error simply use the quick release to relieve pressure inside the pot. Then open the lid and remove the food and place it in a separate pot.
Check the bottom of your pressure cooker to see if there’s any burned or food stuck to the bottom of the container. You may need to clean the pot before placing your food back into the pressure cooker.
To prevent your pressure cooker from burning your food, you can customize the temperature by pressing the Temperature button on your control panel.
- Additional Errors
If you receive an error code E1 it means there is a broken circuit or faulty sensor. The E2 indicates a short circuit of a sensor and the E3 code means the signal switch is broken.
If you experience any of these errors it’s best to call NuWave’s customer care line to get a professional to help you fix the pressure cooker.
