If you own an Instant Pot, the odds are that you use it a lot. With this amount of use, you must clean it and sanitize it on a regular basis. To help you out, we have compiled a list of steps that you need to take in order to ensure that your Instant Pot is clean and sanitary before using it again.

Tips For Cleaning Your Instant Pot

  • Remember that the inner pot is dishwasher safe so you can wash it that way.
  • Always wipe down the inside and outside of the pot after using it.
  • Never forget to clean the silicone ring that is located on the inside of the lid. By doing so, you are ensuring that your pot doesn’t absorb food and liquids without your knowledge.
  • Don’t forget to wipe down the inside of your lid. It can be easily missed.

Steps To Deep Clean Your Instant Pot (which should be done every few weeks)

1. Unplug Your Pot: Because you are going to be dealing with water, you want to be sure that you first unplug the unit to prevent any accidents from occurring.

2. Clean the Housing Unit: For the housing unit, you will want to wipe the inside and outside of the main cooker. You can even use a brush to wipe away anything that may have dried on the unit.

3. Wipe and Clean the Lid: You can hand wash the lid with warm water and soap to make sure that it is sanitized before moving on.

4. Don’t Forget the Small Parts: The smaller parts such as the steam valve can get easily clogged with food or debris, so you want to make sure that you wash it with warm soapy water.

5. Check the Sealing Ring: As stated before, you never want to forget the sealing ring because it can trap liquids and food that can spoil. Clean the silicone ring with normal cleaning products. If it is cracking, you may need to buy a replacement.

6. Throw the Inner Pots in the Dishwasher: Because the inner pot is dishwasher safe, you can wipe it down then throw it in the dishwasher with the rest of your dishes. If it is really dirty, it may need extra cleaning.

7. Clean the Accessories: The accessories can be easily missed because they are so small. However, you want to make sure that you get to every little nook and cranny of your Instant Pot. You can use vinegar and a paper towel to wipe down and sanitize any of these parts making sure to not touch anything electrical.

8. Reassemble: Once you have completed all of the steps above, you are ready to reassemble your Instant Pot and use it all over again. Be sure to repeat these steps every few weeks to ensure that your pot stays clean and sanitized.
