Instant pot a multi-use programmable pressure cooker has revolutionized how we cook things.

With an instant pot, every meal has become an instant success. It reduces the time it takes to prepare food. It relieves you from your guarding duty. It’s safer than using a pan and much more versatile.

But like everything else it didn’t start this way. Granted that even its first model the Instant pot Duo, invented by Robert Wang was a commercial success. The company behind this product, Instant Brands, has never stopped innovating.

Thus since the first 7 in 1 classic the company has released 12 new models. Every successive product not only boasts a set of unique functions, but they also improve upon the deficiencies of their predecessors.

Now before we go anywhere else we have to explain the comparing criteria, which is the number of modes a device has. The 7 in 1 or 10 in 1 refers to the number of modes.

But there are four models released by Instant Brands that are either a 7 in 1 or a 10 in 1.

So we will be comparing four pressure cookers that are either a 7 in 1 or the more advanced 10 in 1. As a result, we will see how different they are from each other.

We have categorized the differences between the previous 7 in 1 and the next generation 10 in 1 into three main categories, namely:

1. Interface.
2. Cooking modes.
3. Other practical functions.

Aside from the differences, there are a ton of similarities between the two products.

1. Both have 2 models, the 7 in 1 has the Instant pot Duo (classic) and the Instant pot Duo Nova. Whereas the 10 in 1 has the Duo Evo Plus and the Instant pot Ultra.
2. Both have three Quart sizes. 3, 6, and 8 Quarts.
3. The materials on both are the same.
4. The few items that come with an Instant pot namely a pot, rice paddle, measuring cup, power cord, condensation collector, manual, reference guide, recipe booklet, and the soup spoon are the same.

Now that we have established their similarities, let’s look into their differences.

Interface

The interface is the big rectangle in front of an Instant pot where all the options are located. Its the motherboard from where you can control your instant pot.

The few differences between the two generations are as follows:

1. Both models with 10 in 1 mode have an easy to read LED display. Whereas only the second model Duo Nova 7 in 1 has it. While Duo 7 in 1 has the old analog interface where the screen shows limited information. For example, the LED display has a function that allows you to see a pressure graph.
2. Both models with 10 in 1 mode have the touch interface. While 7 in 1 mode models have the old analog interface.
3. Both models with 10 in 1 mode come with a rotating knob for value adjustment. This addition to the new models removes the painful process of pressing the plus button multiple times for adjusting to a particular value. Both the 7 in 1 mode models don’t have the knob.

Cooking modes

The 10 in 1 has ten modes namely

1. Pressure cooker.
2. Sterilizer.
3. Slow cooker.
4. Rice cooker.
5. Steamer.
6. Sauté.
7. Yogurt maker.
8. Cake maker.
9. Egg cooker.
10. Warmer.

7 in 1 only has seven modes. The modes that two models lack are

1. Cake maker.
2. Sterilizer.
3. Egg cooker.

Other practical functions

The few other practical functions that only the 10 in 1 have are,

1. It has a sous vide. But only the Duo Evo Plus has it.
2. The 10 in 1 Duo Evo Plus has diffused steam release.
