Electric Pressure Cooker vs Gas Pressure Cooker

The electric pressure cooker vs gas pressure cooker debate is always brewing out there, and the main reason is definitely the overall quality and value. If you’re looking for a very good experience and the best results, then we are here to help. Here you can see which one of these options is better for you.

Electric pressure cooker

Electric models are good because they are connected directly to the electric system. They have a lot more safety with them, not to mention the entire process is automated. You select the pressure you want and insert the ingredients, then the product is good to go. Most of the time you will also have timers and pre-made cooking options for certain foods.

The downside is that it will take a little bit to bring in the desired pressure. It’s the reason why this type of unit is a bit weaker when compared to a stovetop cooker. As a result, it will have longer cooking time. However, the difference is not super huge, maybe up to 10-15 minutes added to the cooking process. But there’s the upside of not having to stay near the unit when it cooks because it’s way safer and everything is fully automated.

Due to their complexity, most electric pressure cookers tend to be very expensive. Average cookers will have six quarts, the larger models can go with additional ones. They can be rather bulky at times, but then again they are worthwhile and definitely worth the money.

Gas pressure cooker

The gas pressure cooker is designed to be cost-efficient and reliable. These products tend to have a variety of sizes, anywhere from 4 to 8 quarts. They tend to have fewer options than electric models. In fact, you normally get two settings for the overall pressure. You also need to adjust the stove by turning it to the maximum heat, and then lower it as the cooker retains its pressure. There’s no built-in timer either, so you will have to sit near the gas pressure cooker and ensure that it cooks your food properly.

While safety can be an issue, the gas pressure cooker is very reliable and it can be easier to store since it’s not very bulky. And on top of that, you can use the base of the pot without the lid as a cooking pot if you want.

Which is the best?

It all comes down to the options you need. If you are ok with a simpler unit that heats up faster and which needs constant supervision, the gas pressure cooker is the right one for you. But if you want more features, bells, and whistles as well as no need to sit near it while cooking, then the electric pressure cooker will come in handy. It’s all about what feels more convenient to you, what cooking time you want and what features you require. Based on that you will have no problem finding the right product to suit your needs!
