Instant Pot has been a hugely popular device on the market for many years now. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it is an appliance that combines the functionality of a pressure cooker and a slow cooker in one.
Instant Pot has released a long-awaited attachment for the product, namely, the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid, which can turn your 6-quart Instant Pot into an air fryer and dehydrator by switching the lids. The lid is simply a heating element and a fan. It’s easy, safe, and efficient to use.
The air fryer/dehydrator lid has been manufactured for 6-quart Instant Pots, and it is important to note that, while it is compatible with most of them, it is not compatible with all.
For example, the lid is not compatible with the Smart WiFi 60, Duo Evo Plus 60, Duo Evo Plus 60, Duo SV 60, or Max 60. If you are unsure, check compatible models here. The new lid is also compatible with stainless steel inner pots, and you cannot use it with ceramic inner pots.
What’s in the box?
When you order a new lid, you will receive the lid, an air fryer basket, a stainless steel dehydrator rack, and a plastic stand to put the hot lid down on. So, if you want to air fry or dehydrate, all you need to do is swap out the pressure cooker lid for the air fryer lid.
This will enable you to declutter your kitchen cupboards and remove your old single-function appliances such as air fryer, grill, oven, food warmer, pressure cooker, and dehydrator.
How does it work?
The lid combines a heating element and fan, which you will use on a high-temperature setting for air frying and a low for dehydrating. EvenCrisp technology promises a crispy finish and golden color when air frying.
Think of crispy chicken wings with golden skin…you can air fry with just two tablespoons of oil brushed over the food, which means that your food will be healthier than when it’s deep-fried but with the same results.
When dehydrating, you need no oil at all. The 6 pre-set programs offer ease of use. Press Air Fry, Bake, Broil, Roast, Reheat, or Dehydrate. The temperature range for these functions is from as low as 105 degrees Fahrenheit to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Instant Pot Dehydrator
Dehydrating is a wonderful way to preserve food that you have in excess. For instance, you can peel, slice, and dehydrate apples and pears, berries, mangoes, and pineapples. Make your own dried herbs or jerky.
Dehydrate vegetables such as carrots, leeks, or mushrooms for soups and stews or hiking trips.
There is no strict need to brush it or soak the slices with anything before drying for the fruit. However, if you want fruits like apples to keep their color, we recommend brushing them with lemon juice first.
Then, simply them into approximately quarter-inch slices (depending on your preference), place them on the dehydrator rack in a single layer, and close the lid. Leave them unpeeled or peel them if you prefer.
The food may stick to the tray a little, but you can prevent this by using the perforated pre-cut baking parchment circles available on Amazon. The process takes about 3-9 hours, depending on the moisture content of the food you’re dehydrating, and you should turn the slices over halfway through.
The best temperature setting is 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
The only problem that we can foresee with the dehydrator is that you can only do small batches at a time.
