presto slow cooker problems

If you are a hoarder of cooking appliances, you would know that Presto is a well-known brand. There are various cooking appliances available but slow cooker is an absolute hit.

However, it doesn’t matter how amazing a slow cooker is, there are various Presto slow cooker problems that adversely impact the cooking. If you want to be aware of the problems, we are sharing everything you must know about problems (and their solutions, of course!).

Presto Slow Cooker Problems

1) Time Settings Are Not Changing

It’s pretty obvious that everyone has to change the time settings on Presto slow cooker according to the recipe and food ingredients. If you are unable to change the time, you might be late. This is because Presto only allows the users to change the time within the first six seconds.

To fix this issue, you must press the cancel button on your slow cooker and choose the right time. If your slow cooker model doesn’t have a cancel button, simply switch off your slow cooker and choose the time settings again.

2) Steam Is Releasing From The Cover

Presto slow cookers are designed to cook food by developing steam inside the pot. However, if the steam keeps releasing from the cover, the food won’t be cooked evenly. The solution is to switch off the slow cooker and remove the lid.

Once the lid is removed, put it in the sealing ring because it’s important to create a vacuum. On the contrary, if you have installed the sealing ring already, there are chances of damages, so replace it if you can. We are saying this because deformation, hardening, shrinkage, and cracking are common with sealing rings!

3) Steam Venting From Valves

To begin with, when steam starts venting out from the valves, the moisture retention will be impacted inside your slow cooker. Keep in mind that this issue is occurring because of incorrect valve settings. To ensure that the steam is retained in Presto slow cooker, ensure that the valves are set in the cooking position to ensure proper sealing. For future reference, always check the valve before starting the cooking function.

4) E3 On The Display

When the E3 error is appearing on the display screen of the Presto slow cooker, we are certain that the unit will stop working. The E3 error simply means that your slow cooker has overheated. We understand that a slow cooker works better with minimal liquid but you cannot opt for no-water cooking.

In that case, you must remove the power plug of your slow cooker and let it cool down. Once the Presto slow cooker is cooled down, remove the lid and add sufficient water. After adding the water, just switch on the slow cooker and let it cook your food.

5) E2 or E4 Error

We have already mentioned what E3 means but some Presto slow cooker users have also complained about the E2 and E4 errors. These errors simply mean that the internal parts of the slow cooker are damaged and/or defective.

When these errors appear, you won’t be able to operate the slow cooker and won’t be able to cook food either. The simplest solution is to contact Presto customer support and ask for assistance. Their customer support service is available at 1-877-378-6123 from 6 AM to 10 PM (Monday to Friday).

6) The Lid Is Too Hard To Open

Presto slow cookers aren’t meant to have a jammed lid or the lid that’s too hard to open. The obvious reason behind this issue is the incorrect removal of the lid. To illustrate, when the lid jams up on the rim of your slow cooker, you must lift up the lid straight from slow cooker’s body.

7) LCD Display Is Not Operational

When using the Presto slow cookers, the users depend on the LCD display for operating the unit and managing the cooking functions. The prime reason why slow cooker’s LCD display is not working is the malfunctioning. The users have to call Presto customer support, so they can fix the LCD display for you.

Even if your unit is not in warranty, you can call some other technician to fix the LCD display. Keep in mind that you might have to get the entire LCD display replaced, so do consider the costs.
