A pressure cooker is the easiest and fastest way of cooking food because it builds pressure and steam, which softens the texture of the food.
Power Pressure Cooker XL is a reliable option as it’s designed with a one-touch preset system for easier settings adjustment as well as a sealed cooking chamber to build up pressure and heat quickly.
However, many people complain about the E3 error code, which indicates that your pressure cooker is overheating.
Whenever an E3 error code appears on display, you should turn off the Power pressure cooker immediately to prevent a fire hazard. To get rid of the error, follow the solutions mentioned in this article!
How to Fix Power Pressure Cooker XL E3 Error Code?
- Insufficient Liquid
A pressure cooker needs to have enough liquid to make sure the heat and pressure build. However, when you don’t add enough liquid, food will start sticking to the bottom of your pressure cooker, which burns and lead to the overheating issue.
The solution is to turn off your pressure cooker, release the pressure, and add more water. Ideally, you should add one to two cups of water.
- Food Residues
A pressure cooker is designed with a removable pot, which makes it easier to clean. However, if you don’t clean the pot properly, the food residues will be stuck on the bottom (interior or exterior side), which burns when a pressure cooker is turned on and lead to an E3 error code.
For this purpose, you have to turn off the pressure and remove the pot. You have to put the ingredients into another bowl to clean the pot. Make sure there are no scrapes or food residues on the pot.
- Steam Release Valve
The Power Pressure Cooker XL comes with a steam release valve that helps release the built-up steam in the cooker before you remove the lid. Before you turn on your pressure cooker, the steam release valve has to be set in the sealing position.
That’s because if you leave the valve in the venting position, steam will keep releasing through the vent as a pressure cooker heats.
As a result, too much liquid will evaporate from a pressure cooker, and the unit will become too hot. So, always put the steam release valve in the sealing position during cooking.
- Deglazing
If the recipe asks for sautéing before you start pressure cooking, make sure you deglaze the cooking pot after sautéing. For this purpose, you have to add some cooking liquid to the pressure cooker and scrape up the bits of food left in the pot before you add other ingredients.
- Ingredients
If you are cooking starchy foods, it’s recommended that you add those ingredients at last. In addition, you should avoid stirring those ingredients because starchy foods should be kept away from the cooking pot’s bottom.
Starchy foods can stick to the bottom and cause scorching, which results in overheating. So, add other ingredients and put the starchy ingredients on top. Some common examples of starchy ingredients include tomatoes, pasta, rice, potatoes, and beans.
Secondly, the scalding ingredients, such as cream and milk, should be added after pressure cooking is completed. In addition to this, add the cornstarch at last because the thick liquid in the cooking pot will dry up quickly and cause scorching.
Power Pressure Cooker XL features a heating element on the inner pot’s underside as well as on the cooking base. We recommend that you check both heating elements to make sure dirt and dust don’t burn due to high temperatures.
When dirt and dust burn, they increase the temperature of a pressure cooker, leading to the E3 error. So, if the heating elements are dirty, clean them properly and make sure they are dry before you turn on the pressure cooker.
The Bottom Line
Overheating is a common issue with electronic pressure cookers, but they don’t occur as long as you ensure proper cleaning and layer the ingredients mindfully.
These solutions generally help fix the E3 error code, but you can also call PowerXL customer support if the pressure cooker is still overheating and showing the error code.
