Instant Pot blenders are great for making smoothies and other blended drinks. They have a large pitcher and eight serrated stainless steel blades. They also have a temperature control section and a heating element at the bottom. They can make nut milk and are easy to clean.
However, after some time, they might start to leak from the bottom. If you are facing this issue, we’ve got you covered!
How to Fix Instant Pot Blender Leaking From Bottom?
There are different reasons your Instant Pot blender could leak from the bottom. Here are a few things you can try to fix the problem.
- Rubber Gasket
The gasket is a rubber seal found at the base of your blender. It’s designed to seal the blade assembly and the jar to prevent spilled food. The gasket can wear out regularly, but replacing it is an easy DIY project.
You can also clean the rubber gasket using two cups of white vinegar and water if there’s dirt buildup. Lemon rind works well too. Then, you can check the unit for any damage. If you notice a leak, you’ll know that the rubber gasket is faulty.
A new gasket will prevent any leaks from forming. While replacing the rubber gasket, you’ll need to follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. Broken gaskets can also cause the blender to leak black liquid.
This manufacturer designs blenders with common problems and makes parts readily available. However, you should consult a professional repair center if the problem is more serious. Most of these centers will charge a reasonable price and fix the blender for you.
- Cracked Glass
A leaking blender is never ideal and can ruin perfectly good food. There are several reasons why your blender might leak from the bottom, including cracked glass. If you’re experiencing a cracked glass, it’s probably time to replace it.
However, be sure to read the manual before attempting repairs. The user manual is the key to proper functioning. Often, the improper operation can worsen the leakage, so it is vital to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Blades
Improperly installed blades will prevent the blade from rotating properly and can lead to leaks from the bottom of the blender. It is also important to use the proper screws when installing the blades. If too much wiggle room, the blades may come loose and leak.
If you don’t feel confident installing the blades, you can take them to a hardware service to have them installed properly. Moreover, leakage can also be caused by clogged blades.
A clogged blade could be caused by food trapped between the blades and the blender’s body. This can clog the blades, cause the blender to slow down, and cause a black leak. This problem can be solved by cleaning the area in which the blades are coupled.
You can use WD-40 or white grease to clean this area. You may also be able to clean the blade assembly area with a small brush and warm water. You can also try cleaning the blade area using dishwashing liquid. To clean this area, you’ll have to take the blender apart.
Then, using a small brush, you can gently clean the area with dishwashing liquid. Once you’ve cleaned it, rinse the area with fresh water.
- Food leftovers
If you’ve noticed black liquid coming out of your blender, there’s a good chance leftover food is trapped. The food might get stuck inside the blender’s bearing and shaft and become difficult to remove. This is one of the most common causes of leaking blender bottoms.
If your blender leaks black liquid, it is a common symptom of food leftovers getting into its internal components. The resulting black liquid is a result of the natural rotting process of the food. However, while it is possible to remove the clogged food, it is not easy to clean.
In this case, the best thing to do is disassemble your blender and thoroughly clean all the internal parts. Take a small brush and scrub the parts thoroughly. You can use dishwashing liquid to soften the parts before cleaning them with fresh water.
- Improper Cleaning
Performing proper cleaning is essential to prolong the life of your blender. Improper cleaning can cause your Instant Pot Blender to leak. You can clean the inside of your blender after every use, which will help restore the shine.
It is important to unplug your blender before cleaning it. After the blender is unplugged, you can clean it. Once done, let the blender cool down completely before storing or reusing it.
- Call a Professional
If your blender is leaking from the bottom, there are a few possible causes. One of these is a crack in the glass. Another common reason is the blades becoming loose. A clogged bearing or shaft could be causing the leak.
Although it may be easy to remove the clogged food, removing the black liquid could result in a mess. Moreover, if you can’t handle the problem yourself, you should call a professional for repair or replacement.
Summing up:
These are just a few things to check if your blender is leaking from the bottom. Before you get started, make sure the appliance is unplugged in order to determine the exact source of the leak.
Moreover, if your blender is covered under warranty, it would be wise to have the blender fixed for free by contacting support.
Hey MissVickie,
My instant pot is leaking from the bottom and I’m about 99.99% sure it is due to the rubber gasket wearing off. Would you happen to have a link to provide showing how to take apart the blender and change the gasket? Also if possible a link to a rubber gasket that is fitting the old one?
I hate being wasteful and throwing away good appliances. I would like to still enjoy the instant pot mixer that I have despite having to fix it.
