Pressure cookers must be sturdy and deliver even cooking performance. For this reason, Gourmia pressure cookers are designed with various cooking modes, so your dinners and lunches are sorted. However, there are some Gourmia pressure cooker problems that users are struggling with, but we have the troubleshooting methods in this article!

Gourmia Pressure Cooker Problems

1) Airtight Valve Is Loose

When you are not cooking, the valve will be loose. So, turn this valve 360-degrees and switch on the pressure cooker. It will settle the airtight valve in place. In addition, you could try using the tongs for adjusting the airtight valve in place. Truth be told, there is no mechanical issue, so just position the airtight valves with the tongs.

2) Menu Button Doesn’t Work

This is when you press the menu button and it doesn’t function. For this purpose, you must ensure that valve three is set to an airtight position. Also, the lid must be locked in properly and securely. Once the lid is secured and valve is positioned properly, it will switch on the pressure cooker and pressure will start building up.

3) Automatic Keep Warm Feature

With this issue, when people hit the menu button, the pressure builds up. However, it switches on the keep warm feature automatically and food doesn’t cook. When this happens, it’s basically because of insufficient water or liquid content. This is because the Gourmia pressure cookers have the over-heat protection sensor that switches on the keep warm feature when there is insufficient liquid. For resolving this issue, you must add liquid or water content to the pressure cooker.

Secondly, you must push down the lid for sealing the lid properly. That’s to say because proper sealing is required for building the pressure (it helps with keep warm feature as well).

4) Steam Leaks From The Lid

The pressure cooker’s lid is designed with the rim and steam tends to leak from there. In case of  the issue, there are chances that the rubber seal ring hasn’t sealed in properly. For this purpose, you must clear the functions and release the previously built pressure and steam. Once the pressure and steam are released, check the rubber sealing and ensure it’s positioned in place.

You can also try cleaning the sealing ring with a piece of cloth and clean off the food particles or debris. Once the sealing ring is cleaned, insert it into the lid and tighten the lid on the pressure cooker.

5) Steam Leaks From Pressure Limiting Valve & Float Valve

When the steam is leaking from the pressure limiting valve, it’s mainly because valve three has an incorrect positioning. For fixing this issue, you need to wear the mitts and adjust the position of the pressure limiting valve. If it doesn’t stop the leaking, you need to follow the below-mentioned steps, such as;

  • Remove the power source and switch off the functions
  • Release the built-up pressure and steam, and take off the pressure limiting valve
  • Look at the wire spring on the bottom side and ensure it’s not loose or bent
  • If the wire spring is loose or bent, tighten or straighten it, respectively

All in all, if the issue still persists, you need to replace the valve. On the other hand, if the steam or pressure is leaking from the float valve, you need to position it at the right place with the tongs. As a result, it will settle into the lid and the pressure buildup will seal the valve in place.

6) Stuck Lid

First of all, if the lid doesn’t come off, you need to ensure that all the steam and pressure has been released. Also, don’t forget to move the floating valve four in the down position (it can be in any position other than the up position). For the same reason, try to push back the lid and turn it clockwise for a convenient opening.

7) Pressure Cooker Not Working

This is about the pressure cooker not working even when you have set the pressure cooking setting. Usually, this happens when you are cooking huge batches of food. In that case, you just need to wait because pressure buildup will take time. On the contrary, if there is some power issue, try replacing the power cable or use the other electric source.
