Electric or Stovetop Pressure Cooker?

Electric vs Stovetop Pressure Cooker

Finding whether the electric vs stovetop pressure cooker options are better for you can be a bit demanding. That’s because each one of the options does have its pros and cons. Understanding what each one of these does is very important, and that’s why you really have to figure out the process and make it work at a professional level.

Electric pressure cooker

The name actually says it all. This is an electric pressure cooker, it harnesses electricity in order to generate either low or high pressure with the cooker, to begin with. It’s very versatile, you can use it wherever you have electricity, so it’s always a plus. There are many options on the market too, which is even better. However, there’s the threat of possible fire and the pretty high electricity bill associated with such a unit.

Still, the fact that it’s dependable, very portable and just a pleasure to use really makes it distinctive and unique in its own right. You do want to give it a try for yourself and see how it works as it can be totally worth the effort regardless of the situation.

Stovetop pressure cooker

The stovetop pressure cooker is a more traditional unit. It uses high temperatures and heat in order to boil the water and then it will trap the steam inside to actually boost pressure. This is a slow process but if you go with the higher pressure it will be ok. There’s also less customization and control here. However, you don’t have to worry about hazards and threats in this situation, which is very helpful.

The downsides here are that you don’t have a great design, the customization is just not there and the gas bill will rise. Thankfully they don’t require a lot of power to function, but keeping them on for so many hours will rack up a high bill.

Find out their differences

As we already established, they both have a different source of power. When it comes to customization, electric cookers are the best because they have timers, lots of buttons, barometers, thermometers and so on. There are units that can make eggs and yogurt, so there’s definitely something for everyone.

Efficiency is important, they are both pretty good when it comes to using a high amount of pressure. The stovetop units are okay, however, you can’t really control how much time you will spend cooking, it can be a whole lot of hours. With electric pressure cookers, you get a lot more convenience and power, which in the end can be very good and interesting at the same time. It’s totally worth checking out and you will enjoy it quite a bit.

Stovetop cookers are less expensive than the electric ones and more durable, but these are also lacking customization and you can’t really control cooking time. So when it comes to the electric vs stovetop pressure cooker debacle, it’s all about what features you need, what designs work for you and so on. Adapting to that is crucial and once you do it properly it will be well worth the effort!
