The dishwashers have eased the lives of the users who don’t like getting their hands dirty in the sink. This is because you can simply stash in the dishes and the dishwasher will clean off the grease without any issue.

However, some users are struggling with Whirlpool dishwasher fills but does not wash the issue. So, in this article, we are sharing the possible reasons and troubleshooting methods!

How To Fix Whirlpool Dishwasher Fills But Does Not Wash?

1. Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher fills up with water but doesn’t wash the dishes, you need to navigate the motor and check for possible damages. In case the motor has gone bad, there will be a clicking sound at the location of the motor. With this being said, you need to take out the dishwasher and check for the clicking sound in the motor.

In case the motor doesn’t start washing the dishes within a few minutes, the motor is faulty in the majority of cases. Even more, you can check the continuity of the motor. For checking the motor, you need to take out the power cords and take out all the connections by disconnecting the circuit breaker. Then, navigate to the motor that’s usually available at the back of the access panel.

You might need to remove the screws for taking off the panel. In case your Whirlpool dishwasher has the door configuration, do close the door before you remove the panel. Then, take out the wire leads from the motor and set it up to R X 1. Then, keep in mind that the resistance should be low. Even more, you must check the ground connections (it must not have any reading).

If the results are different than we outlined, you need to replace the motor. For replacing the motor, take out the power connection and remove the screws for locating the motor. Then, take out the lower rack and spray tower. If there is some filter assembly, remove that as well. Also, remove the wire leads and drain hose. As a result, you will be able to remove the motor.

Once you’ve taken out the motor, just replace it with a new motor by reversing all the steps that we have mentioned for the removal of the motor. Once you’ve installed the motor, add water to the dishwasher and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, you can put in the power cord and start using the dishwasher again.

2. Clogged Holes

If you don’t want to move to the motor replacement, you need to check if the sprayer holes have been clogged. In this case, you can simply take the wire and thrash it through the sprayer holes. This is because the sprayer holes might get clogged with deposits, water, and minerals. So, just clean the sprayer holes and you will be able to wash the dishes as well.

You will need to take out the spray arm and use the wire length to clean up the holes. Once the holes are clean, just pass down some water and insert the spray arm again for better cleaning and washing.
