Perhaps your Samsung microwave simply stopped responding; maybe the buttons is non-responsive or the screen has frozen. Most likely it’s some kind of glitch that the manual didn’t clearly address, and perhaps no official reset procedure exist for your exact microwave.
But fortunately it’s an easy fix… you just need a little patience and a power outlet. A hard reset forces the internals to erase there memory (forgetting what they currently think). This wipes out small glitchs.
Steps to perform a hard reset
You may encounter a frozen display or unresponsive button on a Samsung microwave.
Then you pull the plug out of the wall. Note that simply flipping a switch won’t do. You has to physically unplug the thing from the outlet so there’s no electricity at all running to the board.
And then you wait until everything on the machine stops, no lights, no hum, nothing; because you want to make sure the thing realy is dead. Unplug your microwave for five to ten minutes. This part are important. It allows the memory to discharge and clears the capacitors so the reset will worked.
Ten minutes may feel like forever, but you check the clock just to make sure you waited long enough. Plug it back in.
Once the allotted time is over, plug the microwave back in. Plug it back in again. It spring back to life.
The display illuminates, but there’s no clock. As expected, the clock reset upon power cycle. That means your reset was successful.
The drawback of this approach is that you’ll have to set a new time.
You lost the clock, however. That is fine because you got a working appliance back, and that is the trade-off.
Test the start button and set the clock. That’s the only troubleshooting step in this category, and you don’t need tech skills or tools. Just unplug it, wait, then plug it back in. It’ll work for all manner of digital problem.
This is something to keep in mind if you ever have an issue with your microwave. Because the control panel is always working, you’ll have access to things like Auto Cook and Malaysian Menu after it reboots. When it’s done, you’re back to normal cooking with no worries about a frozen screen.
Hardware problems can also be fixed by some individuals who press buttons on things. That doesn’t normaly solve anything.
A power cycle fixes the problem at its source by essentially restarting the electronics with a clean slate. Try that for any microwave issues you have. It’s easy and it’s free. You should of not be in a hurry while you wait. Waiting just five or ten minutes really does makes a big difference.
