There is the Aroma rice cooker, a beautifull appliance that sits on the counter. With its black interior pot and stainless steel exterior, it sits on the counter. Its control panel have multiple cooking function buttons.
You measure a single cup of jasmine rice and place it into the machine. One cup of rice will serve as a light meal but won’t go to waste.
You measure exactly one cup of jasmine rice.
Measuring and Rinsing
First, you’re thinking about proper water ratio.
Before you cook, the most important part of preparing your grains is to wash them. Place the rice in the pot. Add cold water. Swirl the grains around to release the excess starch. As soon as you do, the water will go milky white and cloudy.
Pour it out in the sink. Repeat this. It’s very important to repeat this for good texture. Rinse, rinse, rinse. Rinse until the water run clear. That means there are no more loose particle like dust. No need to worry, the rice is clean when the water is clear.
After that, you simply top up with clean water. How much water do you put? That’s the trick for perfectly cooked jasmine rice.
It’s easy, use a 1:1.5 water-to-rice ratio. That means one and a half cups of water to one cup of rice. Why? Because it cooks all the grains evenly. If there’s too much water, it gets mushy. Not enough water, and it’s hard and undercooked. The water amount here is optimal. The water sits just above the rice level.
This happen before it’s heated up.
You shut it. Close the lid. Inside is your water and uncooked rice. The appliance sits on top of that light wood surface. Make sure the seal is secure to keep the steam in.
Next, press the button marked “White Rice” on the panel. Check that the digital display show that it’s doing what you asked. Red letters flash F7 on the display. That means it’s engaged and beginning its cooking cycle.
Now just step away. Let the machine do its thing. There’s no need for human interaction at this point.
It’s about 40 minutes later, and you’re done with the cooking. Now you just wait for it to complete its cycle. A timer counts down automatically as you wait. Eventually it reach zero.
The cooking pot tell you it’s ready. You lift off the top and let any lingering steam escape. Oh! Fresh jasmine rice smells good.
It looks good too: the grains are fluffy and separate, with no clumped-up mess. Good (everything was cooked properly). Good… Your ratios and washing was right.
The texture is light and airy.
The white paddle allow you to gently fluff the rice, separating the grains even more. By doing this, it ensures that the rice gets heated evenly throughout the entire pot. If there were no fluffing, it would be more dense then the lower part of the cooked rice might be too dense.
Now the rice is moist but not wet. Every grain is separate and tender. On a plate, you serve yourself a portion. It’s the same amount as when you first measured out one cup. And it expanded well while it was cooking.
It is ready for the table.
Use the 1:1.5 ratio with your cooker each time. Each time you wash your rice well, it taste better.
The timer on the Aroma appliance takes care of all that. You won’t wonder if it’s done or not. You don’t have to guess. With the digital display, there is no question whatsoever. It is simple and effective.
And then you have the pleasure of using an appliance that does everything for you. It saves you time and makes your life easier in the kitchen. Perfectly cooked rice.
