It can get into a loop with the Instant Pot, too. It won’t turn off, and then you’re stuck looking at a screen. In the kitchen, this can be quite irritating. You simply wish it would turn itself off right now.
But unplugging it isn’t realy the way to go here. When you plug it back on, it will have forgot all about its settings.
Steps to Reset Instant Pot
That said, a good reset method is preferrable.
When the timer is set for your chosen program it will start ticking down. You can see how much time remains on the digital display.
Tapping Stop doesn’t always work. You need to interact with the system more deliberate. The next logical thing would be to cancel. What you want is to remove the currently selected setting and preserve power. It’s an easy little hack.
How to Reset an Instant Pot
After a little practice, resetting an Instant Pot is simple.
Put your finger on the Cancel button. Don’t simply tap it gently. Don’t touch it lightly and then let go. Hard-press the Cancel button and hold it. Don’t release until you hear the confirmation sound.
When you do, don’t let up on the Cancel button. Let it continue holding. Listen for two separate beeps. This indicates the reset was successful.
At this point, your display will immediately change to OFF. It’s black with red text. It is instantly recognizable. The Instant Pot has returned to its default state in no time at all.
But that brief retention period is what realy matters. Pressing the button is so much faster then having to turn the unit back on. It resets the memory of whatever was previously running.
That double beep is always a good indicator. There’s no question about whether or not it did its job. Hearing the sound eliminates the guesswork entirely.
Everything just works better now. Cooking becomes a seamless experience. No more waiting for your Instant Pot to catch up with you. No more pausing what you’re doing to adjust something else.
It’s all at your fingertips. All the controls is right there in front of you. Everything looks great and feels solid. It is just like new.
There’s rice, soup and steam (all there). And the interface is set up to make sense on a day-to-day basis. That includes the reset button.
It prevents minor glitches from becoming major issues. And you know what? In the kitchen, you count on that feature every day. Your appliance stay in tip-top shape.
You won’t be stumped by a stuck program anymore.
