- Fix the Water Supply
The most obvious reason for the dishwasher not getting water is there being problems with the water supply, such as said supply not being properly connected to the appliance resulting in this issue. If the line from the supply to the appliance is broken, twisted, kinked, or tempered with in any way, problems like this one are to be expected. We suggest grabbing some tools to take a closer look at things.
If you can find any of the previously mentioned issues with this connection then try to fix them or establish a new, more functional connection instead. Either way, that’s really all which needs to be done to fix this problem in this specific case.
- Broken Door Switch
One of the main reasons for a dishwasher not filling with water is a broken door switch. The door switch is a very simple and important component which basically helps the appliance identify whether or not the door is closed. If the door is opened, the functionality of the dishwasher will be very limited.
This is actually a feature of the appliance itself which is meant to watch out for the safety of users, as using a machine such as this one with the door open can cause many problems and potential damage. But the door switch can sometimes be more problematic than one might think.

- Check the Float
Another very important component when it comes to making sure that the appliance doesn’t overflow and damage itself while also watching out for general cleanliness is the float valve. This is a very simple tool found inside just about any dishwasher which is used to manage the supply of water it is getting.
Say for example, you’re trying to fill the appliance with water but forget to cut off the supply during all of this. There will be a point at which the dishwasher is eventually full with water and fill start to leak unless the supply is cut off.
This is what the float valve is supposed to be helping with. As its name might suggest, this little valve in the appliance floats in the water as it rises, up until the point where it rises too much. Once this point comes, the water supply is cut off and the water inside of the dishwasher already starts to drain. While this is generally helpful, sometimes the valve can get stuck at its risen position which prevents any water from coming in. Inspect this component and make sure it’s connected with the float switch properly to ensure this isn’t the problem.
- Contact a Repairperson
The best thing to do if none of the previous solutions helped is to contact a repairperson. That’s because something rarer than usual is the reason behind you encountering this problem, and a repairperson will be able to identify it with ease by getting a closer look at the situation at hand.
This will be a sure fire way to fix this problem as anyone skilled enough to be a professional will be able to identify what’s going on while also being able to provide a solution.
