Resetting Your DeLonghi La Specialista

If your milk frothing doesn’t work right or you’re getting uneven espresso shots, it’s a good idea to take your De’Longhi La Specialista back to default settings. To do that, you need to know how to push a couple of button at once.

Performing The Factory Reset

It sounds complicated, but it isn’t. Simply use two fingers and push both buttons simultaneousy. If you try pushing just one button, nothing will happen. Both keys has to be pushed for it to go into reset mode.

First make sure your machine is on, with the display illuminated. On the left side of the panel you will find the Double Cup button. Next to that are the My Recipe button. Pressing both at once initiate the process.

They appear to be normal function keys, but they trigger a different mode when pressed together. At this point, no adjustments is made to temperature or grind settings because the goal is a complete reset.

Press the two buttons at the same time. Both of your fingers are now pushing firmly on the plastic caps. Neither has been released yet. If you release one button, it will ruin sequence.

Instead, you will need to wait a couple of seconds before the display begins to blink. When it does, it’s telling you that machine received your order. That’s how you know that the reset mode have kicked in.

The lights pulse, and you hold your hands still. Now the machine is responsive, and there’s a right way to go about things, no random button pushing here.

You let go of the Double Cup button, but then what? You don’t just stop. Push the My Recipe button next and wait for the light to come back on. This confirms you are good to continue. It does blink in response, a barely noticeable cue you’ll want to pay close attention to.

At this point, the machine awaits your final confirmation. You’ll find the power button on the far-left side of the panel. Keep in mind that this is not part of same group of buttons used to select beverages.

Tap it quickly (don’t hold it down), and the reset action is confirmed. Inside, the machine will process that command and lock in the changes.

The display goes back to normal without any blinking and no more flashing of error codes. All indicator lights return to their normal positions. The only remaining red light is the one by the Coffee/Espresso button indicating that the machine is still powered up.
