Scale

Chicken stir fry is popular because it’s so flavourful and unique compared to a lot of other chicken-based foods. It has so much for you to taste with each bite, and you can change it to match your exact preferences. Of course, giving it that distinct taste does mean you need quite a few ingredients. So, here are the ones you’ll need for my recipe in particular:

  • Half a chicken breast
  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoons of chopped ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoons of chopped garlic
  • 1/2 cup of carrot, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup of broccoli
  • 2 teaspoons of soya sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of corn slurry

Instructions

I’ve kept you waiting long enough, so let’s get right into it! Here are the only steps you’re going to need to follow to make this recipe, and enjoy a nice, healthy meal that you made in your own kitchen:

  1. Cut The Chicken: Get half a chicken breast and place it on a cutting board. Then, chop it into thin strips from top to bottom, but make sure that they aren’t too thin. I always make them at least as wide as one finger of mine, so you can do the same. Then, cut each individual strip into small cubes so that they’re easier to cook.

  2. Cook the Chicken: Now that it’s cut up the way you want it, it’s time to cook the chicken. Grab a large pot and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil inside. Let it heat up on its own for a while, and then add the chicken cubes you cut up in the last step. Cook these until their colour changes, since that’s its way of letting you know it’s time to move on to the next step.

  3. Add Spices and Cook: Once the colour is noticeably different, you can start adding other ingredients to the pot. Start with just some salt and pepper (exactly ½ teaspoons of each). Now cook the chicken for another 1-2 minutes while stirring regularly in-between. After that, you need to set the chicken aside and use the pot for something else.

  4. Cook Veggies: Use the same pot you cooked the chicken in, but for vegetables this time. Get 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and heat it up in the pot. Now add all the chopped veggies from the ingredients list. This includes ½ teaspoons of chopped ginger and chopped garlic. Other than that, you need ½ cups of chopped bell peppers and carrots. Stir these around a little and cook the veggies until they’re fragrant.

  5. Add Broccoli and Cook: One veggie left to add now is the broccoli, which you have to add 1 cup of. After that, stir the vegetables around inside so they’re well distributed, and let the mixture cook for 3-4 minutes at least.

  6. Add Chicken: Now that you’re done with the vegetables, you can add the chicken back to the pot again. Just dump it all in and start mixing it so it gets everywhere instead of sitting at the top.

  7. Add Sauces and Cook: For some extra bit of flavour, you’ll be adding sauces in this step. That means 2 teaspoons each of chilli sauce and soya sauce. Make sure that both of these are mixed well with the vegetables and chicken. Then, cook it all for another 2-3 minutes before you can start applying the finishing touches.

  8. Mix Some Honey With It: Pretty much exactly as the heading says, you need to add some honey to your mixture and stir it around. Pour exactly 1 tablespoon of honey on top and use a wooden or plastic spoon to get it everywhere. This will give the stir fry chicken a delicious, sweet hint that really adds to the flavour.

  9. Add Corn Slurry and Serve!: All that’s left from our ingredient list is corn slurry, so you’ll be adding that in this last step. Pour 2 tablespoons of the ingredient on top, and mix it well with everything else. Once that’s done, you can let the dish sit for a few moments and serve it while it’s hot! Your delicious stir fry chicken is ready, and you can serve it for everyone to enjoy.

Notes

  • Like I said, there’s a lot you can experiment with when it comes to chicken stir fry. That means you can change the ingredients around and use substitutes for sure.
  • But, I recommend that you don’t do that if it’s your first time cooking this meal. Following the recipe as it is will make things much easier for you, and I can guarantee you’ll like the end product.
  • Get what I’ve listed above, and you can start cooking a delicious meal. Even if you don’t have everything in the list at home, this stuff is pretty easy to get from any grocery store since it’s nothing out of the ordinary.
