The first hurdle is turning it over to find a mess of fasteners securing the shell. There’s a lot of patience required at this stage; every bolt have to be removed.
The process take some time, and the outside of the case appears solid. There are radial air vents on the sides that look like they’re designed for enough airflow. There is even a caution sticker smack dab in the center off things.
Exploring the Internal Components
It has very tiny print on it that is difficult to read, but don’t worry about trying to figure out what it says. You don’t need to bother deciphering it.
At this point, the white cord attached to the unit remains plugged into it and I haven’t had any power problems yet.
Overcome the mechanical resistance.
I recommend taking out those bolts with a screwdriver. It’s just easier. You can work around the perimeter and head of the driver fits nice and snug on each screw. You can loosen them one at a time.
And the plastic doesn’t crack in the process. That’s good because some housings is made from brittle material. You want to have them organized in a little pile. This one has held up well.
It would of been a nightmare to lose the screws and before you know it, you’ve forgotten which one went where.
After removing all of the fasteners, you notice the shell is loose. But it doesn’t just come apart. The bottom portion remain held on by retention clips.
These retention clips is meant to snap into position tight. They help keep this structure whole.
Be careful here and don’t force it or you’ll break the plastic tabs. Slowly you ease the bottom part off the main body.
It resists slightly at first.
But it also put up a bit of a fight initially.
Pull off the housing
The guts are shown. That’s when the fun starts. It appears clean on the outside but oh man, not on the inside. It’s all compacted. There is circuitry, wires, and heating element. Yikes.
This is typically where you find dust and sometimes ground up coffee. So it gets cleaned in there. Another reason is repairing loose connection.
You want to get in there, see how it works. Seeing the innards makes things less mysterious, and well, it feels good.
Now look at all those exposed parts. Notice the heating element located down low. The tubing runs through where the water would flow. There are wires on the sides.
The layout is more compact different than expected. It’s a tight fit, which might make you wonder.
You want to know exactly what connects to what. You want to see everything laid out for you and it makes sense. It makes sense in an orderly way, which shows that this can be fixed.
Now you have a good idea of what needs fixing. No more guesswork. You are just looking directly at it. And the project is laid out in front of you.
