Amana Dishwasher Not Draining
1) Solenoid
Since a dishwasher is an electrical appliance, it is a combination of different electrical components and a solenoid is one of them. The solenoid is responsible for opening the drain valve which also lets water excrete out from the dishwasher.
That being said, if the solenoid is defective, it won’t be able to drain water, hence the issue. So, call the technician and ask him to replace the solenoid for you. In addition, make sure that the solenoid is bought from the right company and has a warranty.
2) Motor & Pump Assembly
When you switch on the dishwasher and the motor doesn’t run during the draining cycle, there are chances that the motor and pump assembly is not working properly. On the other hand, if you hear the hums, there are defects, and the entire assembly should be replaced.
In case the motor is running, there are chances of blockages in the drainage line. For this reason, you have to open up the drain line and clear up the blockage. In various cases, the food might be too stuck and you will have to use cleaning chemicals for easing up the blockage.
3) Garbage Disposer
The dishwasher tends to drain through a disposer that is attached to the sink (under the sink). So, when the disposer isn’t properly installed or if there are clogging issues, the draining ability of the dishwasher will be deranged. First of all, you must ensure that the drain hose of the dishwasher is connected to the disposer.
Secondly, don’t forget to remove the drain plug from the disposer. If this connection is working fine, the hose has to be blamed because it might be clogged. Consequently, you should remove the hose from the disposer as well as the dishwasher. All in all, clean both ends and reattach them tightly.
4) Standing Water
Amana dishwasher is designed with a filter area like all other dishwashers and standing water in this area will cause drainage issues. The filters have to be replaced to ensure the area remains clean and everything drains through. In addition, the filter area is designed to start draining as soon as the cleaning cycle starts and freshwater is added by the end of the cycle. So, if the water is standing more than the normal level, it won’t drain and you have to clear out the area.
5) Garbage Disposer
In case you have connected your Amana dishwasher to the garbage disposer, it is crucial to remove the knockout plug from the inlet. In addition to this connection, you have to look for the blockages in the garbage disposer, and if you see some, run it to clear out the food. Once these two issues are taken care of, we are certain that the drainage will start.
6) Air Gap Issue
When it comes down to the air gap, it is responsible for allowing air into the appliance to ensure the drainage is seamless and eliminates the chances of vacuum development. 7) Detergent

8) De-junking The Basket
To begin with, we are talking about the drain basket. This is because if this basket is all clogged up, to-be-drained stuff won’t have a place and drainage will be affected. That being said, you need to remove the cover and eliminate the food buildup. Once the basket is cleared up, try training the stuff again!
