    Plan wrappers separately from masa yield. A bag of husks includes narrow, torn, and extra-small pieces, so soaking 10% to 15% more wrappers is usually calmer than stopping mid-spread.

    Yield is an estimate because fresh masa density, soaking quality, husk width, and spread pressure vary. The calculator is most accurate after you weigh one assembled test tamale from your own batch.

    How to Make Tamales Without Panic
