Thermador dishwashers have coined their name in the market as they are integrated with water softening systems, amazing cleaning performance, and other advanced features that improve the dishwasher’s effectiveness and efficiency. However, some users have had issues like the Thermador dishwasher blinking blue light, which interferes with the dishwashing performance. So, let’s see how to fix this issue!
Blue Light Blinking On Thermador Dishwasher – What Does It Mean?
The blue light on the Thermador dishwasher starts blinking when the water within the unit is unable to reach the selected temperature after a specific time period. There are different factors that lead to blinking blue lights, but we have lined out the solutions that will be helpful!
1. Heating Element
Since the blinking light is associated with the water not being able to reach the specific temperature, you have to check the heating element. The heating element is responsible for heating up the water to reach the operating temperature. So, when the heating element doesn’t work, the temperature won’t be attained, which results in performance issues and blinking light. We recommend that you hire an electrician to inspect the heating element and get it repaired. However, the experts recommend full heating element replacement to prevent further continuity issues. In addition to the heating element, you have to inspect the entire assembly – you can check the assembly’s continuity with the help of a multimeter.
2. Drain Pump
The drain pump is designed with an impeller that helps force water from the drain hose. In case the drain hose isn’t working, the light will start flashing. You can check the drain pump’s continuity with the help of a multimeter. In case the multimeter shows zero reading, you have to get the drain pump replaced. You must remember that the drain pumps cannot be repaired, which is why replacement is the only viable solution.
3. Touchpad
If there is nothing wrong with the drain pump and the heating element or assembly, there are chances that the touchpad is short, which is causing weird blinking lights. We recommend that you press some buttons on the touchpad. In case some buttons respond upon your command, but some are still unresponsive, it’s likely that the touchpad is damaged. You can purchase the spare touchpads from Thermador franchise stores or other electric supply stores. However, you should always hire a professional electrician to install a new touchpad.
4. Water Supply
While the Thermador dishwashers are designed to heat up water for cleaning the dishes, it doesn’t mean that you can connect the cold water supply to the dishwasher. We recommend that you check the water supply and make sure the water temperature ranges from 120 degrees Fahrenheit to 150 degrees Fahrenheit (you can use the thermometer to test the water’s temperature). If the water is colder than this range, you’ve to adjust the water heater. In addition to this, you must ensure that the water supply doesn’t force hard water into the unit because it has a high mineral content, which hinders the heating and cleaning process.
