Oster Bread Maker Problems
1) Bread Maker Doesn’t Switch On
Oster bread maker is an electronic appliance, and if it’s not switching on, you won’t be able to make bread at all. First of all, it could be because power isn’t transmitting to the bread maker. For this reason, you should ensure that the bread maker is properly connected to the power switch and make sure the power switch is supplying enough power. For Oster bread maker, it needs a 120V electrical supply from the power outlet.
Secondly, you should ensure that the bread maker is properly plugged into the power switch and the prongs are properly inserted into the outlet’s correct side. Lastly, if the power outlet isn’t working, you should try connecting the bread maker to a different outlet.
2) Beeping
When the bread maker is beeping, it means that the bread maker isn’t working properly. It generally beeps when the internal temperature is too low or too high. 4) Coil Doesn’t Heat Up
Oster bread maker needs the coil to heat up properly to ensure bread is properly cooked. So, if the coil doesn’t heat up, it’s because the coil is broken. 5) Bread Doesn’t Rise Up
It’s obvious that bread needs to rise up when you add dough to the pan. However, when bread doesn’t rise up, there are three basic reasons, such as;
- Yeast – if the yeast is too old or expired, the bread won’t rise. The yeast remains active for two to three weeks when stored at room temperature. So, if you used old yeast, it won’t let the bread rise up. That being said, always buy fresh yeast
- Flour – you must select white flour for baking bread to ensure it rises up properly. This is because if the flour has a low-gluten value, it won’t rise
- Water – when you use too cold water for kneading flour, it will impact the structural integrity of the bread. For this reason, you should always use tepid or lukewarm water for kneading the flour properly and bread will rise properly
- Pan – you should always clean the bread pan before adding dough into the pan. For this reason, you should ensure that there are no residues on the pan from previous bake sessions. Once everything is clean, put the dough back into the pan and it will rise properly
6) Bread Is Dense
Bread has to be airy and light-textured but when the bread comes out dense, there are chances that the dough’s consistency wasn’t good enough. So, you should add liquid to the dough and make sure it’s not too dry. In addition, using high-protein flour for baking bread is the right choice, and the bread’s texture will be right.
7) Coarse Texture Of Bread
When the bread is coming out with a coarse texture, you must have added too much liquid or water to the dough. You should try to decrease the liquid amount (but not too much) and the bread will come out fine. Moreover, increasing the salt amount will help achieve the perfect texture of the bread.
8) Top Is Not Browned
Bread needs to have a browned top but if it doesn’t, you should increase the sugar amount because it creates more browning. In addition, the top can be browned up by putting foil on the top.
