Nonstick cookware has become the most preferred choice, but these pots are extremely sensitive and need to be properly maintained. Similarly, these nonstick pots need gentle cleaning, even if they are burnt. So, if you have some nonstick pots and they are burnt, we are sharing the instructions with you!
How To Clean A Burnt Non-stick Pot?
1. No Dishwasher
When it comes down to cleaning the nonstick pot, make sure that you keep it away from the dishwasher. We understand that washing by hands can be hectic, but it’s worth it, especially when it will keep a thousand-dollar pot safe. In fact, the nonstick pans and pots retain their quality for years when they are cleaned by hands. Keep in mind that even if the nonstick pot is dishwasher-safe, the harsh cleaning mixtures and hot water temperature will damage the pans and pots.
2. Immediate Cleaning
If you were using the nonstick pot and you had it burnt, it’s suggested that you clean it as soon as cooking is over. This is because more debris will clean off when the pots are still hot. The nonstick surface of the pot eliminates the chances of food adhering to the pot’s surface. For this reason, you can use a gentle dish cleaner, and it will cut the grease. Also, it’s suggested to use a microfiber cloth with a nonstick pan to ensure it doesn’t damage the coating.
3. No Metal Pads & Abrasives
The harsh materials are the biggest enemy of nonstick pans, which means you cannot use abrasives and metals pads. That’s to say because these metal pads can scratch the nonstick coating and cause scrubbing. In simpler words, you shouldn’t be using any metal with the nonstick pots (just like you wouldn’t use a metal spoon).
4. Baking Soda
If the damage was done long ago, you can use baking soda to clean the burnt part on the nonstick pots. This is a natural ingredient that won’t damage the nonstick coating. Also, for using the baking soda, you need to mix it with olive oil or water to create the toothpaste-like consistency and spread it all over the burnt area. It needs to be applied for an hour and use a microfiber cloth to wipe off the grime.
5. Cleaning Cocktail
If you don’t want to use baking soda, a cleaning cocktail should help. For making this cleaning cocktail, you have to make a mixture of 1.5 cups of water and half a cup of vinegar and cook it for five minutes. Now, let the mixture cool down and use it with mild soap to clean off the burnt area.
6. Oiling
The nonstick cookware can last a long time when it is properly lubricated. So, when you clean the burnt parts of the nonstick pan, don’t forget to rub some oil as it helps protect the nonstick coating. Ideally, you can use a half tablespoon of oil for the entire pan. Also, after applying the oil, use a paper towel to wipe off the excess, and your pot will shine like it’s new!
