You’ve surely had stuffed peppers before, right? I know I’ve had them plenty, and they’re a big favourite.
As someone that likes spice a lot, they hit the perfect spot. But, something I’ve noticed so many people do is overcomplicate things. They add so much stuff in them, or overthink the recipe.
THAT. IS. NOT. HOW. YOU. MAKE. STUFFED. PEPPERS. GOOD!
Keep things on the simpler side and it’ll always turn out better when it comes to these. That’s how it’s always been in my experience with stuffed peppers at least.

Ingredients
Before You Can Start Making
Of course, you’re going to need ingredients to stuff the peppers with in the first place. Fortunately, you don’t need to many of them.
- 1 Onion: Chopped.
- 1 Tomato: Chopped.
- 4 Bell Peppers
- 3 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 500 gram Ground Chicken
- 1/2 tablespoons Oregano Powder
- Salt: As per your taste
- Black Pepper Powder: As per your taste
- 1/2 tablespoons Paprika Powder:
- 2 tablespoons Tomato Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Soya Sauce
- 1 Cheese: I prefer using slices of cheddar cheese for this.
Yup, the list is as short as that! You don’t need anything more for the recipe, but you can add a couple of other things to it if you prefer. Just remember what I said earlier though.
Overcomplicating the recipe can create bad mixtures. It’s best to keep things simple because that every ingredient shine on its own to create some really wonderful bell peppers!
Instructions
Have Everything? Start Cooking!
I told you that this recipe is really easy, and you’re about to find out why.
It’s as simple as mixing as well as cooking all the ingredients together in a pan, and you’re already two thirds of the way there!
- Prepare The Stuffing: Heat up a pan and pour three tablespoons of olive oil across it.
- Cook Onions First: Add the onions you chopped to the oil once it’s warm, and let them heat up a little before finally adding the ground chicken. Let this cook for at least 5-7 minutes before you start adding other things.
- Add Sauce and Powder: Now add the diced tomatoes and sprinkle salt over it all depending on your own taste. I prefer a teaspoon of it, but some people like more or less. It’s really a personal choice! Same goes for the black pepper powder.
- Add more ingredients and cook: As for the other ingredients, add ½ teaspoons each of oregano powder and paprika powder. Once that’s done, pour two tablespoons each of soya sauce and tomato sauce over all of it. Grab a wooden or plastic spoon and start mixing everything thoroughly. Once it’s set, cover the pan and let the chicken cook for 8-10 minutes. After that time has passed remove the lid and stir for a little bit.
- Cover: Then, you can cover it again before letting it cook for another 3-4 minutes. Smells great, doesn’t it? Good news is that you’re really close to getting to eat it!
- Stuffing and Baking The Peppers: The next step is of course to finally put that stuffing you just made to good use. But, before you do all of that, my advice is to start preheating the oven at 180 centigrade for 15 minutes already so that you don’t have to do that later and wait extra. After that’s done, start off by cutting up 4 equal pieces of cheddar cheese per slice.
- Start Stuffing: Then, grab the chicken you prepared and stuff as much of it as you can inside the deseeded bell peppers.
- Add Cheese: Leave just enough room for a small cheese piece to cover the top, and place it there.
- Bake: Now, the last thing to do is baking the peppers for 8 – 10 minutes before they’re finally ready to eat!
Notes
- If you did what I said earlier, you just saved yourself 15 minutes of time! Once the oven is pre-heated, put the stuffed peppers inside for 8-10 minutes, which should be enough for the cheese slices to melt.
- Be careful, they’re hot! Yes, I do mean that in more ways in one. They’ll be fresh out the oven, so they’re hot. Plus, they’re spices, so they’re hot in that way too. You get what I mean, right?
- Once they’re out, you can serve them! Now all that’s left to do is start stuffing yourself with these delicious stuffed peppers!
