Cooking is an art but art takes time, right? With this being said, the utilization of electric pressure cookers is increasing with the advent of Instant Pot. Similarly, Cuisinart has come up with the electric pressure cooker as well.
For people who have been using the manual pressure cookers, understanding the Cuisinart pressure cooker valve position can be complicated for them. So, in this article, we are sharing everything you need to know about valve positions on the Cuisinart pressure cooker!
Cuisinart Pressure Cooker Valve Position
When you are using the electric pressure cooker by Cuisinart, you need to make sure that all the valves are clean and free of debris. Usually, the floating valve is around the anti-block shield. In the case of a pressure release valve, it needs to be kept in the sealing position when you have to cook. This position of valves promises that the pressure cooker will be able to create pressure.
On the other hand, when the food is done, you need to let the pressure release out, rather than just opening the lid; and how is the pressure released? Well, you need to turn the pressure release valve in the downward position, also known as the venting position. Similarly, when you are using the pressure cooker, liquid content must be properly watched because the pressure valve might create more pressure.
When you are using the Cuisinart pressure cooker for the first time, keep in mind that the pressure valve is positioned on the lid and must be tightened up securely. In the same vein, when you have to lock the lid, keep it in a counterclockwise direction and make sure the float valve’s position is on the left side. On the other hand, the pressure limit valve must be at the dot position (.).
In case the timer is up, you need to turn off the cooker and pull the pressure limit valve in the forward position for quick pressure release. When it comes down to cleaning, you can remove the valve by pulling it in an upward position.
Safety Valves
If you are anything like us, you would be scared of pressure cookers blowing up in the face. Well, the Cuisinart pressure cooker is designed with a safety valve. These valves are designed to release the pressure when the pressure cookers fail to do so. With this being said, the internal side of the safety valves will experience an increase, and the disc will move in an upward position.
This upward position provides space for pressure to excrete. Also, once the pressure is released, the disc comes back to its position (the downward position and locks in the outlet).
The Bottom Line
The bottom line is that pressure cookers are only dangerous when you don’t close the lids properly or don’t position the valves properly. The general rule of thumb is to keep the pressure release valve in the sealing position and push it in a downward position once the food is done. As for the safety valve, it sets its position automatically according to the pressure.
