1. Filters On The Base Grill
If your refrigerator is designed with the water filter at the bottom-front of the unit or in the grille area, the filters are mounted to the grille and can be taken out or installed. So, if you think that the water filter is stuck, there are chances you haven’t turned it correctly or aren’t pushing the button properly. Having said that, you will need to take it out by following the below-mentioned instructions;
- To remove the water filter, you have to turn it a quarter turn to the left side
- Pull out the water filter
- Take out the cap
- Install a new filter and put on the cap
On the other hand, if it is stuck, you can follow the following steps;
- Put a cloth on the water filter cap to ensure the cap is not damaged
- Take out the standard pliers and lock the water filter cap in place and turn it into a quarter turn
- Pull out the water filter
It’s incredibly convenient to take out the stuck water filter. However, make sure that you don’t apply too much pressure because it can damage the water system.
2. Push Button Filter
If your refrigerator is designed with the push-button filter, you need to locate the button on the refrigerator’s base grill and push it all the way in until the water filter is disconnected from the filter assembly and remove the water filter. - Press the button and hold it while the filter is ejected and push on the filter
- Then, push on the button and the filter will disconnect from the filter assembly
- Disconnect your refrigerator from the power connection and take out the bottom grill and you will have better access to the filter
- Press the button again to see if the stuck filter is removed. If it is moved, you can push it back in and press the button again
- Lastly, just put on the filter cap and you are good to go
3. Filter Inside The Refrigerator

- First of all, start by trying to close and reopen the water filter door and make sure the door is opened
- Switch off the water connection to the refrigerator and push some water from the waterline with the help of a water dispenser
- You have to dispense multiple cups of water and the water pressure will be released
- Once the water line is purged, take out the water filter (it will be easy) and insert it again after a few minutes. You can also insert a new one if the filter needs a replacement
