Refrigerators are common in every household and many people opt for Amana refrigerators to enjoy the best performance and features. However, Amana refrigerator water and ice dispenser not working is quite a common issue but there is a troubleshooting guide that you can follow. So, are you ready to check out the solutions?
Amana Refrigerator Water And Ice Dispenser Not Working
1. Water Tube
First of all, you have to inspect the water tube because that’s the ultimate supply behind the ice dispenser and water dispenser. For this reason, you must disconnect the water tube at the door’s bottom and blow air. If the air doesn’t pass, it means that the tube is frozen and needs to be thawed. For future reference, you must ensure that the freezer is operating at a proper temperature. To illustrate, the freezer temperature must range between zero to ten-degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, if the refrigerator is too cold, it can lead to freezing of the tube.
2. Water Inlet Valve
A water inlet valve is responsible for opening the water supply to the ice dispenser. If the valve is damaged and the water pressure has become too low, the valve won’t open. Keep in mind that this valve should have a minimum of 20psi to operate seamlessly, so achieve that water pressure. Secondly, if the water pressure is already enough, you should check the valve and test the continuity.
3. Water Pressure
The refrigerator with an ice dispenser and water dispenser needs a water supply to operate properly and it needs sufficient water pressure as well. That being said, ensure 20psi water pressure to function properly and keep an eye on the water flow. You must have sufficient water flow and water pressure to ensure the dispensers keep working properly.
4. Dispenser Control Board
The dispenser control board is designed to handle the majority of the dispenser system’s functions. So, when the control board is damaged, it will stop supplying power to the dispenser system. For this purpose, you must test every component on the dispenser control board and repair/replace the broken parts. If more than three components are damaged, it’s best to replace the entire control board because there is obviously something wrong with it.
5. Dispenser Switch
The dispenser switch is designed to send power/voltage to the dispenser. So, if any of the one switches is damaged, the dispenser will stop operating. For this purpose, you could use a multimeter to test the switches and replace the broken ones. Once the switches are fine, we are sure you won’t have a problem with the dispensers.
6. Door Switch
The door switch is responsible for switching off the water dispenser and ice dispenser when the door is open. When the door switch fails to perform, the dispenser will not switch on. You should use a multimeter device to check the performance of a door switch. If there is no continuity, the door switch needs to be replaced.
7. Water Filter
This is one of the most underrated causes behind the dispensers not working. So, you have to check the water filter and make sure it is not clogged as it can restrict the water flow. Having said that, you need to replace the filter regularly (at least after every six months).
