De’Longhi Magnifica Red Triangle: Solid Means Dirty, Flashing Means Infuser

When your De’Longhi Magnifica’s red triangle light comes on, it doesn’t happen at random. It lets you know exactly what is wrong with the machine.

Interpreting the Warning Lights

There are two states. A solid light indicate that the machine is dirty. Flashing light indicates that the infuser are loose. If you look, the machine speaks to you.

Flashing triangle means infuser issue

This means there’s a lot of dirt inside.  The inner channels gets plugged with grounds and coffee residue as it ages. It doesn’t go away on its own.

To clean properly you’ll need to tackle a good bit of interior cleanup. Because that’s just how it goes: grinds compact and they make a big mess inside. Not a “hey maybe I should” but rather a “hey I gotta.” Time to break out some soap and do a little scrubbing.

Clean all of those parts well. Don’t leave any gunk behind. Now dry them well and put them back together. And try it.

Is the light still on? If so, despite your cleaning efforts, there’s more than soil involved. Stop cleaning. It won’t do anything except frustrate you further.

Contact an authorized service center. Could be a mechanical problem. In that case, reach out to an authorized service center. Soil can be cleaned; broken can’t.

Another reason that red triangle will flash is when the infuser didn’t go back on correctly.  Why? This happens because you took it off, cleaned it, and replaced it incorrectly.  A lot of times when you clean it you do it wrong.

The machine will tell you right away if something doesn’t fit right. And it will point specifically to the issue. It is the infuser assembly. To fix it, simply replace the infuser and make sure it snaps into place. Don’t force it. But it has to be align correctly.

Once you get it in the right spot, the light will turn off and the sensor will know it’s in place. So no more taking apart. Simply look at the connection. Is it snug? If not, tighten it up. No tools required. All by hand. The parts is delicate so handle with care.

Maintenance includes water management. On the side, pull out the clear door. It has the word PULL on it. Pull it all the way open. Make sure there is no condensation inside.

Look at the water reservoir: Is it clear? Remove the gray water tank, then replace it in its side compartment. Now examine the stainless steel front panel; it should be gleaming. You should be able to read the brand name.

Everything should fit snugly.

Tight is good.

To keep these lights from happening, just keep the machine clean. That’s regular care. Don’t wait until it goes off with an alarm. Keep it clean every week.

Rinse the tank. Wipe the outside. Check the infuser.

If you see that the light is solid red, heed it and clean out the inside. If you see that the light is flashing red, heed it and check the infuser.

Now the machine is running smoothly.  You know what the signals are. No guesswork anymore. Just maintenance. Five minutes. Worth it. Good coffee depends on it.
