The machine assumes you are using whole beans, so make sure to set the control panel to pre-ground mode before brewing.
Without doing so, your grounds is completely ignored by the system. When it’s set wrong, a red triangle will appear on the screen (as seen above). Simply push the button to switch the mode and the screen will update with the new setting.
But in some cases just doing this won’t fix things, especially if there are other problems as well.
Understanding the Machine Components
The load time is key: Once your machine powers on, let it come all the way up before pouring in any coffee. The internal infuser isn’t activated when the device are turned off. Pouring too soon will send the grounds to the base of the chamber different than keeping them inside the brew basket.
Because it’s outside the filter area, this will result in a failed brew cycle. Check your brew group to ensure the grounds didn’t remain on the brew basket; you should of find some residue left behind at the base of your brew group. Clearing out this area resolve the issue.
Oh, and don’t forget where you put the coffee. There’s a pre-ground funnel slot and a bean hopper slot that sits close together at the top of the machine, so it’s simple enough to mix up which is which. If you pour grounds into the main bean chute, however, it’ll halt the brew cycle completly.

Look for the label marked “1 MAX” to find the fill line for the pre-ground compartment.

You also need to consider the amount of coffee you pour in. Pouring in extra doesn’t make your coffee any stronger, but rather requires the right amount for the machine… One level scoop. Any less or more coffee throw off the flow and pressure.
Measure out a single level scoop of coffee and pour it into the designated pre-ground funnel.
If everything goes as planned, that red triangle will clear from your screen. This means you’ve got the right setting turned on, the machine has warmed up, and you’re using the proper funnel. The brewer should then go about its business as usual.
