The lights on your De’Longhi Magnifica is like a second language to learn. Each one tell you what it needs. If you pay attention, you’ll save some time. You’ll maintain freshness in the coffee.
Understanding Light Signals
Sometimes the steam light will flash. Don’t panic, this isn’t a fault. You simply has to choose a setting on the hot water/steam knob and the light will stop flashing when you do. The machine is waiting for your input.
But that’s simple to resolve.
If the reservoir level gets too low, the water indicator starts flashing. Time to add more. It’s just a reminder.
But if the water light goes solid, then the machine can’t see the tank. Check that the tank is sitting in place. That will typically fix the issue.
If the grounds container light flashes, it means the bin is full, so you should of empty it immediately. If the bin is filled up then you know to remove it right away and dump it. Otherwise the machine won’t brew.
However, if you clean the bin and all that happens is that your lights are now solid, then you didn’t insert the bin properly. Double check it, click it back in.
The triangle lights, the grounds container, and the water are all connected. When they light up together in a triangle, it means the grind is too fine. That’ll stop the brew or slow it down.
Or maybe there’s an air bubble in the water softener filter? No water are flowing through that circuit. Check your grind setting.
It works, though. It’s adjustable.
When the bean hopper runs out, the triangle flashes to show the grounds container is full. Refill the beans and be on your way.
Then both the triangle and the grounds container flash, which means the machine sensed overuse of coffee. That was after we’d tweaked the settings too far and reset the machine.
Then there’s the tricky one: Triangle. Triangle = infuser out. After a clean, you’ll remember to replace it.
But if triangle stay on, that means your insides are filthy. Time for a good old clean. This is the nasty part of coffee making, but it must be done.
A descaling cycle is needed. You won’t skip this because taking care of your machine will make it last longer.
Fill it up. Turn it on. Let it work. See what happens. Figure it out.
Some of those lights remind you of things. Others tell you there’s a problem. Read the lights. Learn their meaning. The pattern is clear. Each code spells out a different story. You don’t have to guess. The machine speaks to you.
