If you own an Aroma Professional rice cooker, your machine might flash a red light and show you an E1 error code. That means it has found that its temperature sensor circuit are open. In other words, it can’t read the heat.
While this could be caused by a faulty sensor, most of the time it’s because one or more of the connection have become loose, particularly if you’ve been transporting the appliance around a lot.
Fortunately, this is easily remedied. Simply check your wiring inside.
Inspecting Internal Wiring Connections
Open it up: The bottom opens so you can get at what’s inside. When you remove the base cover, you’ll see a tangle of connectors and wires. You will also see some warning stickers telling you not to put the thing in water. Set the open box down on your work table and have another good look at the wiring. Though they might all be in one piece, their connection points is frequently unreliable.
On the temp sensor, there are some wires that comes out of the end and go to a tiny little plastic connector block. That might not have been fully inserted. Just give it a slight push back in until you hear it click into place. Then you’ve got it reconnected again with the main board. Make sure everything connect properly so the parts can communicates in the system.
Also look around for anything that might be vibrating loose inside the base. A slightly disconnected pin can easily be missed. Check the main harness connection and connect it back together to make sure it fit properly. There shouldn’t be any wiggle room in the connection and everything needs to be tight and snug.
Once you have it back together with the bottom panel return your cooker to power and hit the start button.
That will reset the display and hopefully turn off the power light so you can see if it clears the error code.
You can try inspecting the wiring and securing the connectors, and then test the unit by cooking a pot of white rice.
If it gets to that stage error free and turns on its heating element then you know that your temperature sensor are communicating correctly with the system.
In most cases, however, this little hassle could of been remedied without a part replacement.
