Samsung microwaves: Kids will hit a button or two by accident, so be sure to lock down that control panel. It’s easy to do, just locate the proper key. There should of a specific Child Lock button on the front of your microwave’s control panel.
It’s there, somewhere amongst all of those other function keys.
Unlocking The Child Lock
The button is one you have to press and hold down. It’s not like pushing it; it takes a solid push and a calm hand. Hold it down for precisely three seconds.
Almost immediatly, the digital display will acknowledge your input. A flashing “L” show up on the screen, this indicates that the lock has engaged.
There it goes, all locked up and secure. That’s an “L” which tells me it is complete. Microwave is now secured.
Try out the lock and push the Start button. The microwave does not respond. In fact, there was no response from any of the other button.
All your touches is completely ignored. This puts your mind at ease. It turns off the ability to start anything.
So there’s no risk of something accidentally heating up, or changing the time. Your kids won’t be able to mess with it and turn on a heat cycle. Or change the time.
And the security thing? Yep. It’s a thing.
Somewhere along the way, though, there’s going to be something you want to cook in the microwave. That means unlocking it by reversing what you just did.
Find that Child Lock button once more. Press it and hold for three more seconds. Immediately, the display change. The “L” is gone. Everything springs to life again.
Normal operations is resumed. Now you can cook away in peace.
