Agar, as we discussed have great dietary uses. It has very few calories and saturated fats which makes it one cholesterol-free suppressant. Moreover, Agar is one extensive source of folate, fiber, iron, manganese, and most importantly calcium. 

It is an effective weight-loss agent as it suppresses your appetite and provides negligible quantities of carbohydrates. 

How Long To Pressure Cook Agar?

Pressure cooking Agar is the easiest way to get the quantities of Agar in your home. You wouldn’t have to get it from the Bazar. It would hardly take 40-40 minutes to get completely pressure cooked. 

Equipment And Ingredients For Pressure Cooking Agar:

Gather these before you start the pressure cooking method.

  1. Agar (8 KG at least, of 1.8 percent of working strength).
  2. Tryptone (15 KG)
  3. Soya Broth
  4. Water (500 ML)
  5. Medium size bottles
  6. Petri dishes of the required number.

That’s all, after gathering these, you need to refer to the following instructions carefully:

  1. Take 8 grams of 1.8 percent of the working strength of Agar.
  2. Now add 15 grams of Tryptone and soya broth mixture within the bowl filled with 500 ML of water.
  3. Fill up the pressure cooker with water. 
  4. Now add the above mentioned (step 2) solution in a medium-size bottle and place it inside the pressure cooker. 
  5. Heat the cooker with a high-medium flame. 
  6. Make sure to take the bottle of the mixture aside so your pressure cooker is allowed to settle down along with the bottle for 10 to 15 minutes. 
  7. Lower the flame to take out the mixture filled bottle and shake it so the Agar inside settles down and stick to the bottle’s bottom. Your solution would be mixed thoroughly. 
  8. Now take the heating bottle of the solution and put it in the water bathing pot to cool it down to 55oC for about 10 to 15 minutes. 
  9. After cooling, take out the solution into Petri dishes. 
  10. Place aside the filled Petri dishes so the pressure cooked Agar solidifies. Check it after an hour to examine the texture. It would be hardly soft.
