If you like your coffee hot and would rather that it brew at a higher temperature, you’re in luck. The De’Longhi Magnifica has this option and it’s pretty easy to switch.
But there’s a caveat: you need to ensure your machine is in the right position. That means you can’t change the setting while the machine are brewing.
Changing Brew Temperature Settings
You’ll need to have your machine in standby mode. Find the power switch on the side of the machine. It’s a black rocker switch. Just confirm that it’s set to the ‘I’ position. That means you have power going to the machine, but it’s not on.
Don’t worry about the ventilation slots. You won’t be able to get the button combo to work if the machine is all the way on, let the lights calm down.
Next, place your finger on the ‘Espresso’ button (one of the primary brew buttons). Then, hold it down for a second. The brew strength and water level icons will illuminate in red, indicating you’ve successfully accessed the secret menu. You’re now able to adjust the temperature settings.
Hold down the ‘Espresso’ button. Don’t press it, just hold it down. Keep pressing that plastic button until the control panel’s lights respond after a couple of seconds.
Specifically, two icons will light up, both in red. One has three lines (representing brew strength) and the other is a cup with horizontal bars (indicating water level). That means you’re in the correct menu which provides visual confirmation.
Press and hold the ‘Espresso’ button. And then press it again to scroll up (or down) through all of the temperature selections. You’ll notice it lets you increase or decrease the temp. It goes from low to high.
You’re able to view your choices. Cool to hot. Scroll up or down accordingly and select whatever you like. If you don’t like hot, pick something in the middle-high range.
Then you need to lock in your selection. Note that this isn’t automatic; the machine won’t remember until you do so yourself. Locate ‘Long’ button. Yes, this is the same button as you’d use if you were making a long coffee, except here it’s for something else entirely.
Press the ‘Long’ button. Once. It informs the system that yes, it should of take this new temperature.
Press the ‘Long’ button and the illuminated icons vanish. The lights on the control panel goes out entirely. That means it worked.
The machine resets itself back to standby mode with the new setting saved. A new temp has been stored into the machine’s memory. Turn it back on and make yourself another cup of coffee. It doesn’t take long at all. There are no secret menus, no firmware changes necessary. Just physical buttons.
The temperature can be easily changed too on this one. No app. No tools required. A couple of button presses. Logical sequence. Place machine into standby mode. Press and hold ‘Espresso’ button. Tap through the settings. Select option. Confirm by pressing ‘Long’. Done. Actualy, it is easy. The moddern machine has many features based off your preference. Just make sure you recieve a good brew.
