The De’Longhi Magnifica lets you program buttons to control how much coffee comes out of your machine. The default usually results in either too little or too much, and it’s easily adjustable with a few clicks.
To reprogram one of the buttons (long shot or espresso in this case), simply choose the appropriate button and set a big cup beneath the spouts. Push and hold the button you’d like to program. When light on that button comes on and flashes, let go.
Testing Your New Settings
The machine is now waiting for your programming input and will begin pouring some coffee into the cup below.
The machine dispense coffee continuously while you hold the button, so you can measure exact amount you desire.
To use it, just hold down the button you want to change. The machine will dispense the correct quantity of coffee into your cup as long as you’re holding the key down.
Press down on the button, watch water rise in your cup, and hold it there until it gets to height you like.
Once your cup is full to the appropriate level, simply press the button one more time. That second press tell the machine it’s done measuring and it shuts off the stream right away.
Now it has new size stored in its memory and from then on pressing the button will give you exact amount of coffee you just specified. It is nice if you like a certain size cup every time, and there is no need for manual to make it happen.
To check that the new setting works, try it immediately. The coffee will now pour into the cup at the pre-programmed volume, filling it up exactly where you want it. Next time you use the machine, you’ll get the same result, no more guessing or fiddling around.
Handy if you like a long coffee or short espresso, as you can programme each button individually to suit your taste, and control panel stays uncluttered during the process. It also remembers setting until you reprogram it.
So it’s a flexible system, meaning you could set up individual pours of various drinks with varying volumes. Just use main spouts, and the milk frother on the side is left alone.
For this particular job, just ignore the volume dial; the button memory override the default setting.
It’s simple enough for anyone without any technical know-how, it only takes about a minute to program cup size.
