A rice cooker cooks hot rice once you add your ingredients. It also lets you prepare meal the night before so there is no rush when you get home.
For those who have a poor sense of time or are just busy, you can use its delay timer function. Add everything ahead of time and let machine worry about doing the work as you focus on something else. You don’t need to wait for water to boil. And even better, you won’t have to worry if stove is turned on or off. Set it and forget it. When you push the delay timer button on the control panel, you are telling cooker to wait before it begins cooking.
It forces you to separate out the cooking phase from the preparing phase in your head, which is why there’s no need for a manual, it’s intuitive. Pushing this button turn on the entire scheduling system.
Setting the Timer and Program
After turning on the timer mode, press the + and. Buttons to specify how long you want to wait. There’s no guesswork here; the number of hours you add will appear on screen in digital display. Adjust accordingly until you reach the right amount of time for your post-work arrival.
In other words, you’ll want rice to be ready just as you step inside the door upon returning home from work. Maximum delay? Fifteen hours. That should cover most situation. More than enough time. Set your countdown time and then decide what kind of rice (or program) you wish to cook. That’s an important one that most folks skip over while they rush around. Without choosing a program, the appliance have no idea what to do when clock runs out.
For testing purposes, we’re going to go with white rice since it’s the usual dish around here. The interface wait for your selection before finalizing the timing. Once you’ve chosen the program and the time, it’s hands-off, well, actualy fingers-off, all the way. While it waits for its scheduled time, it uses almost no energy because it simply sits there.
At zero on the timer, it starts the cooking process based off your previous settings, and there’s nothing more you have to do. In fact, you don’t even have to be at home (or in the kitchen) when it does so. From standby to cooking mode, it’s entirely automatic, with no human help required. This means that you have hot, fresh rice waiting for you as soon as you’re hungry. That’s a big deal. There’s no mental load to worry about remembering to put rice on in the middle of a hectic day. Set it up before heading out the door and have peace of mind that evening meal will be handled.
These newfangled rice cookers are so much more versatile than old ones. No longer is it all about boiling some grains… It’s about fitting in with your everyday kitchen activities in an easy way.
