Ingredients

Units Scale

While making a tortilla wrap is simple enough, the ingredient list isn’t really short. There’s plenty you’ll need, which is listed below:

  • 1 Lettuce
  • 1 Tomatoes, Sliced
  • 1 Pieces of corn
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Water
  • 1/2 tablespoons Soya Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Habanero Sauce
  • Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Tomato Sauce
  • Salsa Sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoons Salt
  • 1/2 tablespoons Black Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoons Paprika Powder
  • 1/4 tablespoons Taco Seasoning
  • 1/2 tablespoons Mustard Paste
  • 1/2 tablespoons Garlic Paste
  • 500 grams Ground Chicken
  • 3 Cheese Slices

Instructions

Now that you have everything you’re going to need, I’ll walk you through the process of making some delicious tortilla wraps in under half an hour!

  1. Getting the Chicken Ready: To get started, heat up a pan and spread two tablespoons of olive oil across it. Always put the ground chicken in first. I usually make it with about 500 grams of ground chicken, but you can add more if you plan to serve plenty of people. Keep in mind that you’re gonna have to adjust the rest of the recipe accordingly though.

  2. Add Flavors and Mix: With 500 grams of chicken heating up in the pan, add ½ tablespoons of garlic paste. Mix it well before adding ½ tablespoons each of salt, paprika powder, and black pepper powder. Thoroughly mix what you have so far and let it warm up in the pan a bit.

  3. Add Sauces and Mix: Add ½ tablespoon of soya sauce, followed by the same amount of vinegar and habanero sauce. If you’re like me and like spicy stuff, you can add a bit more habanero. Or, if you don’t want to set your mouth on fire, you could try adding less. Start mixing again and let it sizzle for a bit before adding three tablespoons of tomato sauce. Mix it well and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add Water and Cook: By now, the delicious smelling mixture cooking in the pan will be very thick. That’s why the next step is to add half a cup of water. Mix it all again until the water settles in before covering the pan and letting the chicken cook for 9-10 minutes.

  5. Add Additional Ingredients and Mix: Okay, time’s up! Uncover the pan and add just ¼ tablespoons of taco seasoning into the mixture, followed by ½ tablespoons of mustard paste. One last time, mix it all up and cover the pan. Let the chicken cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the liquid mixture starts to boil.

  6. Slice The Bread: Grab a tortilla and lay it flat. Grab a knife and place it in the centre of the tortilla. Now run the knife in a straight line towards your direction until the edge. Make sure that you don’t slice it in half while doing this.

  7. Spread Ingredients Across The Bread: Pour salsa sauce on one corner, and sprinkle some corn over it. Put the cooked chicken on the corner above that before adding lettuce and tomatoes in another corner. Pour some mayonnaise over the lettuce and tomatoes, and place a slice of cheese in the final corner.

  8. Bring The Wrap Together: Now take a corner of the tortilla from the side where the cut is and fold it upwards. Then, fold it to the other side before folding it down, so that everything is all wrapped together. That’s the way I tend to wrap my tortillas, but if you prefer doing it a different way, that’s all good too! Just make sure the ingredients sit together and stay in place for the next step.

  9. Cook The Wrap: Put a skillet on the stove to warm up, and spread olive oil across it. Place the wrap you made on top of it. Cook both sides for 2-3 minutes, until you see them get that satisfying brown colour everyone loves on a tortilla.

  10. Enjoy the Meal: And there you have it; your tortilla wraps are ready for serving!
If you wrapped it the way I did, you might want to make a slice down the middle so that the shape and size is easier for eating. Either way, your food is ready, and you can finally start munching down on a delicious tortilla wrap!

Notes

  • That’s the exact recipe and process I use to make my tortilla wraps, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to it completely.
  • One of the best things about cooking is that you can mess around with different ingredients to make that perfect mix for yourself. So, feel free to substitute ingredients or add to them, as long as it’s logical.
  • For example, a great addition to these wraps can be cut up jalapenos, especially if you like a spicy kick to your food. If you like sour, you can use lime.
  • Something I like to do is switch things up entirely and use ground beef instead of chicken, which can work out just as well, if not even better!
  • As long as you stick to the essentials I covered here and follow them properly, I can guarantee that this simple tortilla wrap won’t let you down. It’s an easy and healthy meal that’ll fill you up without making you work too hard in the kitchen, and that’s exactly why it’s a personal favourite of mine!
