Thermador ovens no longer need an introduction as they are designed with cutting-edge features and even cooking outcomes. In addition to this, the oven doors are designed with a glass window, which is actually a convenient way of checking on the food during the baking cycle. In simpler words, you can simply peek through the glass door to check the food rather than opening the oven door and let the heat escape. However, since it’s glass, it’s prone to breakage and needs replacement.

Replacing The Oven Door’s Glass
It’s common for people to drop the baking dish on the oven door accidentally, which results in the shattering of the glass. As a result, the oven will be useless since heat will keep escaping through the broken part of the oven door. So, if you are using the Thermador oven and the door’s glass is broken, you can try out the following steps to replace the door glass;
- First of all, you need to disconnect the Thermador oven from the power source. For this purpose, you might have to pull the oven range from the wall to make sure you can access the power cable and disconnect it from the outlet. In addition to this, you could try turning off the breaker from the main breaker panel of the house.
- Once the oven has been disconnected, you need to open the oven’s door to access its hinges. If you can see the hinges, you can simply slip the flathead screwdriver between the hinge locks’ top and the oven. Once the screwdriver is stuck, flip it downward (toward the door). On the other hand, if the hinges aren’t visible, you might have to take out the screws from the hinge openings.
- It’s recommended that you place a pen or pencil between the oven and hinges to make sure they remain open and the hinges don’t connect to the oven wall accidentally.
- Now, lift the oven door from the hinges to take it out.
- Once the oven door has been removed, it’s recommended that you put it on the towel or old blanket to protect it, and don’t forget to remove the screws that hold the oven handle to the door (you can simply put aside the handle).
- Now, remove the screws from the oven door’s bottom side as they are responsible for holding the outer frame with the internal panel. You have to lift the inner panel from the exterior frame and put aside the frame.
- Then, put the inner panel to make sure the oven side of a panel is faced downward – you can remove the screws that are holding the glass panel. Keep in mind that you will have to lift this panel from the primary oven panel and remove the broken glass pieces.
- The next step is to clear the inner edges of the door panel to make sure it’s clean for the new glass installation.
- Once it’s cleaned, put glass in the panel opening and put it on the retainer panel. Then, just connect it to the oven panel with the help of screws and secure the oven door to the oven’s frame to start using the oven again.
The process is quite simple if you can handle some screws. However, if you haven’t changed the glass before, it’s recommended that you hire a professional.
