While the oven comes with a hefty price, there are a ton of features on this unit that can help you maximize your cooking efficiency. So, if you value accessibility features and are not that concerned with the budget, then sparing a few hundred dollars for a new Breville smart oven will serve you perfectly over the long run.
With that said, there have been a few reports on Breville smart oven air door not closing. If you’re having similar issues with the unit, then the following methods should help you get around the door issues with your oven.
Breville Smart Oven Air Door Won’t Close
- Clean Hinges
One of the main reasons behind this issue is that sometimes debris or food particles will get stuck in the door hinge and block the pathway for the hinge to retract. So, you won’t be able to close the air door until all the debris has been removed from the door hinge. All you need to do is grab a long stick and start removing the dirt lodged into the door hinge.
Once the door hinge is clean, you can try to close the door again, and it will work perfectly. In some situations, users had to open up the oven door and clean the hinges completely. So, if you’re unable to get all the dirt out, it is a good idea to remove the main panel to get beneath the oven frame and clean the door hinges.
- Fix Lever Orientation
It is also common for the lever to get warped under intense heat from the oven. So, if you’re sure that there is no debris lodged in the oven and you’re still struggling with the door issue, then there is a good chance that the lever has warped out of shape. Luckily, you won’t have to do much to get this issue fixed.
To fix this problem, you just have to put some pressure on the lever and bend it back into shape. Ideally, you won’t have to put too much pressure on the side levers. So, make sure not to bend these levers out of shape and use a moderate amount of force. Hopefully, the issue will be fixed at this stage, and you won’t have to bother with any other solutions.
- Adjust Screw Height
There have been a few cases where users had to remove the door frame completely and adjust the height of the screws attached to the hinges. So, if you’re still struggling with this problem, then use the manual to remove the door from the oven. After that, you need to unscrew the screws attached to the hinge inside the oven frame.
At this point, you can increase or decrease the height of these screws and put them back into place. It shouldn’t be that difficult to manage the functioning of the door after this fix. However, if you’re inexperienced, then it is a better option just to call an expert and have him fix the hinge for you. That way, you won’t have to spend hours trying to get around this problem.
