langers vs katz

Deli is not an easy-to-make food and is known as exotic and fine food. The deli restaurants offer ready-to-eat food items but not every restaurant can cook and offer them rightly. That being said, we are sharing about Langer’s vs. Katz because these two are the most common delicatessen restaurants in different parts of the United States. So, let’s check out information about these two restaurants!

Langers vs Katz

Langers

This is the deli restaurant famous for kosher-style deli food. The restaurant is based in Los Angeles and is located right opposite MacArthur Park. The restaurant has been operating since 1947 and has become famous for pastrami-rye sandwiches. They are often called as the Marilyn Monroe of pastrami sandwiches and they have sold millions of pounds of pastrami. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Langer’s has one of the best pastrami around the globe.

The restaurant was launched by Albert J. Langer who wanted to meet the deli food needs of Jewish immigrants who were visiting LA back in the days. Initially, he started from the smaller shop but acquired a bigger one with his German friend. Today’s famous and billion-business restaurant was operated on loans and it started only with $500. In the very beginning, their corned beef sandwiches were offered at 35 cents. The owner died in 2007 but Norm, his son handles the restaurant now.

Langer’s has a 4300 sq. ft space and they also offer the curbside service to the customers (this service was launched when one of their employees gave an order to a customer who had to stand outside because there was no space inside). According to the restaurant handlers, the curbside service tends to deliver over seventy orders on a daily basis. As far as the working experience is experienced, their employees get various benefits as well as company support.

Langer’s has own multiple awards, such as America’s Classics and honoree of Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand. If you are concerned about the menu, it’s pretty extensive since it stretches over four pages and it could be hard to find the best option. However, the pastrami-rye sandwiches are extremely popular and Swiss cheese just adds to the flavor. In addition, they have corned beef sandwiches, pastrami fries, and perfect coleslaw. As far as the flavor is concerned it’s smoky, moist, peppery, and aromatic.

Katz

If you are in New York and want to taste some amazing deli food, Katz should be your ultimate choice and they are famous for their sandwiches. They are known for the high-end pastrami which delivers the Jewish feels. To be honest, it might feel like dwelling into the past but you cannot neglect the amazing flavor that it offers. Katz’s classic pastrami sandwich is extremely famous which is served in rye bread (untoasted bread) and mustard is added to enhance the flavor.

It can be served with two different types of pickles. As for the meat, the sandwiches have a high pile of meat. What’s best about their sandwiches and pastrami is that they are moister and corned beef sandwich is equally delicious. In addition to pastramis, Katz has amazing sausages and salami but they have never gone for kosher flavors. As far as the sandwiches are concerned, they have a combination of high-quality and fine cheese and meat.

If you are concerned about the restaurant, it will always have a long queue but you can visit during the mid-evening time to ensure you find the seat. It’s safe to say that the majority of people in this restaurant are tourists but New Yorkers love these sandwiches equally. In addition to these sandwiches, they have an extensive breakfast menu, including corned beef, pastrami, omelets, hot dogs, onions, salami, lox, and much more. The breakfast menu also has coffee, buttered-up toasts, and orange juice.

When it comes down to the meat, their turkey is amazingly moist and flavorful. Katz has a special Russian dressing that will improve the flavor like nothing else. In addition to these popular options, Katz also has cheesesteak, steak fries, chili bowls, and more. As for the drinks, you can opt for cream soda, seltzer, but there are various bars in the neighborhood for people who want a stronger drink.
