However, to get the right results, these ovens have to be lit up but users are having issues as the GE X144 oven won’t light. GE XL44 Oven Won’t Light
1) Circuit Breaker
The first step is to inspect the circuit breaker. Truth be told, it’s a simple solution (and problem) because the electrical circuit might have tripped the circuit breaker. It is responsible for powering the ovens. The electrical connection is essential for operating the oven’s timer and various other components. Now, when the circuit breaker is tripped, there won’t be any heating because it won’t light up. If you aren’t tech-savvy, you must call the oven technician to get the circuit breaker back on track.
2) Gas Supply
When the oven doesn’t light up, the gas supply might be broken or interrupted (the gas supply could be propane or natural gas). In the majority of cases, the issue occurs when the main gas valve is switched off by mistake or intentionally. For this reason, you have to check these valves and other related valves available in the branch line. All the valves must be switched on to work properly. As a result, you will be able to get a proper gas supply and the oven will light up.
If you want to be sure that gas supply is the issue, you need to light one of the hobs on the oven. If these hobs are working properly, there might be something wrong with the oven. On the other hand, if these hobs don’t light up, the gas supply is to be blamed and you’ve to check the isolation valve. Checking the isolation valve will help you ensure that the gas supply is working properly. Lastly, don’t forget to check the kinks in the gas supply/line because they can hinder the gas flow, hence the lighting issue.
3) Igniter
While we are talking about the lighting issue, it’s pretty evident that the ignitor isn’t working as it should. So, the GE X144 oven might not light up because the igniter has gone bad. Normally, the igniter glows in orange color when it’s switched on. When the igniter is hot enough, the gas valve will open and gas will be supplied via burner. As a result, the igniter will light up the gas that’s coming through the burner and the oven will heat up.
On the other hand, when the igniter isn’t glowing, it won’t light and there might be smoky odors as well. If you want to check the igniter on your own, you’ve to switch off the circuit breaker and reconfirm the power connection. Then, take out the metal plates and oven racks and you will have access to the igniter. You have to inspect it for discoloration (if there is discoloration, it has gone bad). Now, you’ve to change/replace the igniter and the lighting will be back on track!
On the other hand, if replacement is the issue, you have to call for the replacement and make sure you get the igniter according to your oven’s model. 4) Power Supply
When the GE X144 oven doesn’t light up, you need to understand that every oven needs a power connection. For this reason, you must ensure that the oven is connected to a power switch with a smooth and uninterrupted power supply. You need to check the power cable, to begin with. If there are no visual damages to the power cable, you’ve to ensure proper connectivity with the oven and switch.
